"Music is a universal language that speaks directly to the heart, so it can unite people from different cultures and eliminate existing borders. I am excited about living my dream and seeing what the future will bring. To me life is one big adventure and I truly believe that everyone is unique and born into this world for a specific reason. Follow your heart and your dreams and everything is possible." ~ Anita Lerche
While I was doing theatre shows, my career as a concert singer in Europe was also growing steadily. A dream came true when I was selected to be part of the Danish Eurovision – a television song contest that I had loved watching with my parents every year throughout my childhood. Also I had an amazing experience singing the American National Anthem at the Mike Tyson vs. Brian Nielsen boxing match, broadcast to over 200 million people worldwide. My first solo album
‘I Love a Piano’ consisted of some of my favorite songs from the Pop
and Musical Theatre genre, and dubbing the Danish voice of Barbie
for the animation movies ‘Toy Story 2 & 3’ was a lot of fun.

For me the voice is a very versatile instrument and is one of the reasons that I easily could learn to sing Punjabi songs, from a technical point of view. Pronouncing words in Punjabi was very challenging to begin with, even though I had already sung in 13 other languages. I experienced an incredible hospitality and support from Anurag and his family, so with a lot of hard and focused work I was able to sing fluently in Punjabi after only a couple of months. I used my daily yoga routines to boost me with power and energy, and during my stay in Punjab I fell in love with the Punjabi culture, the food and all the colors. Punjab quickly turned into my second home.

After a year in India my album ‘Heer from Denmark’ was released and to my surprise I realized that I was the first and only Western girl to have released an album in the Punjabi language. The feedback I got from the media and Punjabis around the world was simply amazing. I was honored by the Punjabi University, received multiple awards and was touring in North India and around Europe, USA, Canada and other parts of the world, which was like living my dream. I also got into singing religious Hindi songs and Bollywood songs.

The documentaries about me called ‘Kashish Punjab Di’ has been broadcast on Indian TV channel Doordarshan and ‘Fra Herlev til Bollywood’, has been broadcast on Danish National TV. New collaborations have seen light and my new album ‘Jugni Denmark
Di’ is to be released very soon.
